The Bauer Scholarship Program is based on merit and financial need. To qualify for Merit Based scholarships, you must be a full-time student in the Bauer College of Business and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Baer Reintegration Scholarship was established to help people with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder acquire the educational and vocational skills they need to reclaim their lives. A judging panel selects the recipients of this award.
How to Apply
The Bauer Scholarship is a highly competitive award that covers the cost of tuition, books, health insurance and accommodation. It is available to both domestic and international students who are pursuing a degree in English from the Department of English. The scholarship is based on merit.
Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program of study at UH Houston. They must be nominated by a faculty member or staff person, and their nomination must be submitted to the English department. The George and Barbara Bauer Foundation Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to students who have applied and been admitted into the Bauer MBA Full Time or Professional MBA programs. It is available to US citizens, US residents or international applicants who demonstrate above average academic achievement (competitive GMAT or GRE scores and GPA). Applicants must also have demonstrated leadership potential based on their professional and/or academic accomplishments.
Bauer Recruitment Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded annually to a number of international students who are accepted into the University of Houston. The value of the scholarship varies each year. Typically, the scholarship provides up to USD 1000 per year for tuition fees. The scholarships are not automatically renewed and must be re-applied for each year.
Merit Based; must be a full-time student, have declared a major field of study and maintain a 3.25 GPA. Preference will be given to undergraduate Finance students and then to MS and MBA students concentrating in Finance. Preference may be given to current NABA students or alumni members of NABA. The recipient can accept other scholarships and grants, unless otherwise noted.

The Bauer Scholarship Committee selects scholarship recipients through a competitive process on a rolling basis throughout the year as long as funds are available.
There are a number of scholarship requirements that students must meet in order to be eligible for the Bauer Scholarship. Applicants must be a full-time student with a declared major in Accountancy or Finance, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and maintain good standing as determined by the UH Scholarship Committee. Applicants should also be a current member of the Bauer Honors program and be able to demonstrate financial need, as defined by federal guidelines.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, the Bauer Scholarship Committee looks for applicants with other qualities that can make them stand out from the competition. These qualities can include community involvement, leadership skills, career goals and extracurricular activities. In addition, a letter of recommendation from a professor is required for some scholarships.
If you are applying for a Need Based Scholarship, it is imperative that you have a FAFSA on file with the Office of Student Financial Aid in order to receive consideration. The FAFSA must be submitted for each academic year that you are seeking financial assistance. If your FAFSA has been selected for verification, please turn in any requested documents as soon as possible in order to avoid any delays in receiving your financial aid award and eligibility for Need Based Scholarships.
In 2024-2025, the Tammy S. Bauer Memorial Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student who is an alumna of Northern Lehigh High School (NLHS) in Pennsylvania and who has overcome hardship with determination. This student should demonstrate a commitment to continuing their education and be committed to making positive change in the lives of others. The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per year for a maximum of two years.
Deadlines
For Bauer Scholarships that require financial need, it is best to apply early. This is because the financial aid office must verify the requested information before awarding a student any money. Verification can take several weeks to complete.
It is important to know that the Scholarship Committee awards a large number of scholarships over the summer for the upcoming academic year, and continues to award throughout the academic year as funds are available. This means that you should not assume that your application will be rejected if you are not awarded by the fall semester payment deadline.
In addition to the required application materials, some scholarships may request supplemental materials such as a personal statement or letters of recommendation. It is important to include these materials if they are required because they can enhance your application.

The Bauer Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of a former employee of Gulf Oil Refinery and is awarded to students who have demonstrated exemplary qualities of character, integrity, work performance, and leadership. The student must be an undergraduate or graduate level UT Houston student and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. The student must have a strong desire to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry and demonstrate financial need.
The National Security Education Program (NSEP) was created to provide UH graduate and undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a study abroad experience in countries or areas critical to national security interests. NSEP participants will be required to complete a service agreement during their time at the university, in addition to their degree requirements.
