Bennett Rosenthal founded the Hope Scholarship Fund in order to provide significant tuition assistance for graduate-level students at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies. A graduate of Syracuse University, he holds a B.S. in Finance and Insurance, as well as a C.P.C.U (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter) designation. He is the former president and Managing Partner of Rosenthal Bros., an independent insurance agency headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. Currently, he and his wife live in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin where they enjoy visiting National Parks and volunteering as tutors at the Walworth County Literacy Program.

Hazelden’s relationship with Betty Ford began long before the organization merged in 2014. In 1970, Dr. Joe Cruse visited the then-Hazelden Center in Center City, Minn. to borrow ideas from its innovative 12-step residential treatment program for alcohol and drug misuse. In 1982, Mrs. Betty Ford co-founded the organization bearing her name along with Leonard Firestone and Dr. James West in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The Center continues to be a leader in the field of residential chemical dependency recovery and treatment.

In keeping with former First Lady Betty Ford’s commitment to helping families, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is a force of healing and hope for people affected by addiction. The national nonprofit system of recovery centers and telehealth services provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment for teens and adults, as well as family and support programs. Charity support drives ongoing advances in care and research and fuels a network of collaborators across health care.

KOVA Foundation has partnered with Hazelden Betty Ford to provide two scholarships in the amount of $100,000 each for its Naples location. One of these scholarships will be named in honor of KOVA founder Thomas Michael Marrero and the other is offered anonymously.
